avi.NET
MPEG2|MPEG1|DVD|SVCD|VCD to AVI converter

AVI movie files are both popular and potentially excellent quality for their size.
With the introduction of home DVD players that play DivX AVI´s, their creation and use will only become more popular. avi.NET, along with other AVI conversion programs, require the correct type of VOB file. What we desire is a ready processed VOB file, not a RAW VOB, in other words you need to have used rip.NET or DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and have ripped the correct program chain.
Do not use DVD Decrypter´s ´Stream Processing´ option!
avi.NET MUST have the XviD Video Codec v1.1 or above and/or the DivX Video Codec v6.0.3 or above installed prior to using avi.NET.
avi.NET will allow you to load in your ripped VOB file (remember to have ripped correctly), select your desired options, and convert to AVI. All AVI´s made using avi.NET are SAP friendly, whether DivX or XviD codec used (both DivX 6 and DivX HE supported). Obviously they´ll play just fine on your PC too. I´ll now go into more detail about the usage and various options in avi.NET.
avi.NET will accept both MPEG1 or MPEG2 files for input, which includes DVD, SVCD and VCD. Upon loading a file, avi.NET will invoke DGIndex (included) to ´index´ the input file and give us the information needed for us to proceed. When our file has finished indexing you´ll see the movie start to play/preview. Just remember, you´ll hear the audio being played too, it´s just there to make sure you have the correct language selected or if the audio needs changing so don´t worry too much if its out-of-sync

D.I.K.O. Version 2.35
DVD Encoder and Menu Maker

Diko is a video converter: it converts many kind of video to fit a DVD-R as DVD-Video or a CD as SVCD. But how DIKO is different from the other video converters around?
For each step of this conversion, there's an optimal way to do it and a optimal software (generally freeware) to use. But using all softwares and learning each step to do an optimal conversion is a time consuming task in two aspects: you have to spend a lot of time learning to use the tools and you have to be around to run each tool. Since video encoding processes takes a while, sometimes this means that you would have to stay all day long around the computer to command one step after the other, besides setting the right options and doing manual calculations.
DIKO is an automation tool: it command many other software to get the best result in this conversion. It's like a super speciallized robot that does the all the calculations, decides what is best qualitywise and gives the right orders to all tools, aiming to get excellent video quality
Our Comments:
We love this little program, it converts avi's/DIVX and XVID's to DVD in about 2 hours and has converted many movies for us. D.I.K.O. Has converted where others have failed.
Here is a tutorial for D.I.K.O.

DVD Shrink
Backup your DVD discs

DVD Shrink is software to backup DVD discs. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disc.
DVD Shrink will also burn your backup DVD, if you have installed the latest version of Nero or if you download CopytoDVD. You can also download a demo version of Nero here. If you already possess alternative burning software and prefer to stick with it, then you can still use DVD Shrink. The output from DVD Shrink can be saved as files on your hard drive, which you can then burn with software of your choice.
Most DVDs are designed to prevent you from making copies.
The first preventative measure is encryption. Commercial DVD titles are often encrypted, which prevents you from either copying them to your hard drive, or if you manage to do so, being able to play the resulting files. DVD Shrink overcomes this problem with built-in decryption algorithms.
The next problem is not so easy. Most DVD video titles are simply too large to fit, without modification, onto a single recordable DVD-R disk. DVD Shrink overcomes this problem by compressing or "shrinking" the data from your original DVD.
DVD Shrink also allows you to re-author your DVD. You can make your own compilation from one or more source DVDs, or select only the parts of a DVD which you intend to view, thus preserving more space on your backup for the highest quality viewing.
Guides
Doom9 has written an excellent DVD Shrink Guide which covers pretty much everything you can do with DVD Shrink.
