CryptoExpert 2007 Lite
Store and protect your important information

CryptoExpert creates encrypted virtual disks and these disks are visible as usual disks with drive letters (for example, G:, H:, Z:, i.e. with any drive letter that is not used by other system devices).
The data stored on a CryptoExpert disk is stored in the container file. A container is a file, so it is possible to backup a container, move or copy it to other disk (CD-ROM or network, for instance) and continue to access your encrypted data using CryptoExpert.
Any free drive letter (or choosen letter) in the system may be used to mount and to open an encrypted file-container for access. When the virtual disk is opened, you can read and write data as if it were a conventional removable disk.
You can do anything with a CryptoExpert virtual drive that you can do with a normal hard drive; only that with CryptoExpert, the encrypted volumes require password authentication before the files become accessible.

ACLView

ACLView provides an alternate interface to manage NTFS permissions. It allows administrators to assign ownership and permission for objects from an Explorer-style interface. The permission list can be saved to XML format, so it can be used to quickly load the same set of permissions for other objects. The tool is intended for system administrators and requires knowledge of ACL.

PhishGuard

PhishGuard is a FREE service that detects and rapidly disables Internet "phishing" or "spoofing" attacks designed to steal critical financial data.
Phishing attacks use fraudulent websites and emails that mimic well-known organizations in order to trick unsuspecting Internet users. A simple login or account number entry screen becomes a sophisticated trap. By assuming you are dealing with a trusted party, you can reveal financial information including credit card numbers, bank accounts, passwords, and social security numbers to the "bad guys". This type of attack is very difficult for the typical person to detect, as the scammer’s emails and websites mimic the exact style and graphics of the spoofed company, and appear genuine. Sensitive financial information disclosed to scammers is used to make fraudulent financial transactions and to enable long-term identity theft.

Script Sentry

Windows Scripting Host (WSH) is a double-edged sword. On one hand it can be used to make some very useful scripts to automate common Windows functions (for example, the Spell Checker script from PC911). On the other hand, it can be very easy for a malicious user to make a virus using WSH. Script Sentry allows safe scripts to run on your system while alerting you if a script might harm your system. In addition, Script Sentry prevents against malicious scripts hidden in ShellScrap (hidden SHS and SHB extensions) files, Word/Excel macro viruses, malicious HTA files, and accidentally run REG files.

AnalogX Port Blocker

Whenever you run a server on your machine, it uses what are called 'ports', which allow other machines to connect to them. Of course, sometimes you're just running them for your own internal use, but there's no easy way to stop someone from accessing the server. AnalogX PortBlocker allows you to basically block the Internet port of most servers, making them unreachable to other computers on the Internet. This program is NOT a Firewall, but it will allow you to run a server that is only available on the local network, and will log any access attempts made by other machines that are attempting to use the blocked interface.

Attacker

Attacker -A TCP/UDP port listener. You provide a list of ports to listen on and the program will notify you when a connection or data arrives at the port(s). Can minimize to the system tray and play an audible alert. This program is intended to act as a guard dog to notify you of attempted probes to your computer via the Internet.
Attacker is not intended to protect your computer from hackers in any way other than notifying you of what was always happening to your computer before you knew about it! Running this program may in fact attract more attention to your computer from people remotely scanning for vulnerabilities due to it appearing as a collection of open ports. However, it will definitely not lessen the security of your computer. It is strongly recommended you have a good anti-virus program installed and that you do NOT have File & Printer Sharing enabled for use over the Internet.

Slap

If your like me you run firewall software that tells you when someone tries to access your system. Sometimes I respond with a few packets of my own just to let them know that I am paying attention. I wrote Slap to make responding to these access attempts easier and more entertaining. Just enter the IP address of the person you wish to slap and click on the Slap button. The program will attempt to access all the ports in the list and send them a packet with a personal message. (The default message is 'Leave Me Alone!') Slap integrates with Black Ice and Zone Alarm and can use information received from these software firewalls to "Auto Slap" intruders and add their attacks to your list of responses.

McAfee SiteAdvisor for IE
Traffic-light approach to website safety

McAfee Site Advisor is a good way to sort the good websites from the bad, online.
Once installed it appears as small area of text in the bottom right hand corner of the browser window. This changes colour depending on the website. Green signifies a website that can be trusted, yellow a site that might send lots of emails or red for sites that are known to send spam or bundle adware into downloads.
Clicking on this text gives the option to read more information about the site. This includes the number of emails received after registration and whether the website links to any suspicious sites. Downloads hosted on the site are also checked.
Most websites are tested by computers at McAfee but it is possible to submit a user report if you feel that a website has been the cause of spam or adware.
In this case the website will be looked at by a member of the McAfee team, rather than relying on automatic checking. The site owner can also leave a message responding to the rating
